Woot!

"Distribution boss Fellman said "Batman Begins" opened strongly enough that he expects the studio will push ahead with a sequel."
  • Current Mood: bouncy bouncy
Erm ... wouldn't the sequel be "Batman"? *is confused, as she thought that this movie was a prequel to the other movie series....*
Nopers. Think of the 'first' 4 Batman movies as their own universe, whereas 'Begins' re-starts the franchise from the beginning. I want more Batman with Christian Bale and Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman!

If you ask me, the new movie is much, much more true to the characters and the series than the originals with Keaton, Kilmer and (ick) Clooney ever were.
Yeah - see - I wasn't sure if they were starting a new franchise. Good to know - gives me somethin new to get all obsessed about! MWAHA!

You're not the only one! I was thrilled that they set up the sequel already - a whole passel of sequels if they do one movie per Arkham breakout. The only fly in the ointment is a line from the NY Times this morning, saying that the producers are a little afraid that the universally good reviews mean that they made a movie for adults instead of the kid-pleasing pablum that makes for a blockbuster return.

Seems to me that if they get enough money for this one, they will hopefully have the sense to make more of the same just like it.

On another note, comic prequels seem to be "in" right now. Smallville for the "young" Superman, the crappy The Batman on 'Toon, etc.

The cynic in my says it's because it allows them to capitalize on a ready-made fan base and backstory, so the amount of creativity that is actually required is minimal ;)
Probably. And at the same time, for the youngest people seeing it who don't know the backstory, it provides it for a presumably new market for the animateds and the comics.
They allready said there was to be a new series of movies, how many is it they signed bale for 3?

Do you think they would of trashed that if it had bombed (as if it would heh)

Haven't heard how many Bale has been signed for, but yeah, if it for some reason had sucked and tanked, I'm sure they would have scrapped it.
Well look at the first 3, they still went ahead with 4 *shakes head* hey at least dylan liked it heh
