I knew it was too good to be true.

DVD #4 of my Alias Season One box set has a couple scratches. They aren't severe-looking, and cosmetically I wouldn't care, but neither my DVD player nor the DVDrom in my computer can read the disc, presumably because of said scratches. So I've emailed the seller, although I'm not sure what he (she?) will do, or be able to do -- I guess I could always read the FAQ.

Well, looks like you can return stuff through, which sucks because the other five discs work fine, but it's not likely this person just has a #4 replacement lying around. Oh well. You get what you pay for. At least there's not an episode on that disc I'm dying to see -- just Sloane getting tortured by Quentin Tarantino and the introduction of Sark. Although in one of those eps, Syd does ask out Vaughn, and there is the priceless line "Did the Clinton administration teach you nothing?" Alas.

If I do end up sending it back, I'll watch the last two discs first (might as well) and then put the returned $30 towards a legit copy of S2. Then S1 can go on my Christmas list. Mwahaha.

Oh sorry to hear one of your DVDs is scratched!

I bought Season 3 used but I did so at a store where they guarantee their used DVDs because they watch them before they buy them from the seller.

And, lol, I know what you mean about the episodes involving Quentin Tarantino - the man is a nutcase, plain and simple - and I really did not like Cole (which is why up until recently I had not watched these 2 episodes since they originally aired). But having said that, when I did rewatch them recently I discovered there were some things I did like about them, such as Sydney and Jack working together - I even liked it when Vaughn shows up at SD-6 to help Sydney after Jack allows himself to be caught.

And another thing is if Disk #4 doesn't work for you, you can rewatch "Page 47", which has a great dinner conversation between Emily and Will - gosh I loved all those underlying meanings to what they were innocently saying and how uncomfortable Sydney, Jack, and Sloane all looked during the entire thing. The entire time I was watching it, I was like "I can't believe they're having this conversation!"

Anyway, I hope you can get the problem soon solved and that you'll be able to get a good copy of Season 1!
