Expanding my horizons

Bought two new books today at BN. I need something to hold me until the new Koontz book comes out on May 26. Not that I'm counting the days or anything.

Anyway, the books: Triplanetary by E.E. "Doc" Smith (I blame the meme!) and Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold because I think I recall someone reccing her after my last fantasy disaster. There was a more-interesting looking fantasy book there by a Judith something Tarr, but it was more pricey ;) Has anyone read Judith Tarr -- is she worth it?
