*howls*

Thought I'd make a mention of something that's been annoying a lot of people within the fandom of late. The reason I started watching this show was because I enjoyed the movie and the interaction between O'Neill and Jackson. When I came across the series, it was already into season 3 and so I had a lot of DVD's to buy and a lot of catching up to do. I wasn't disappointed, and found the series to be even better than the original format of the film. The relationship between the two characters was explored in an even deeper way and a lot of the best episodes seem to be where Jack and Daniel are at the forefront. Episodes such as Torment of Tantalus, One False Step, The Serpents Lair. Even the eps where they were bickering such as Red Sky and Scorched Earth showed how good the chemistry between these two actors was.

Season seven has shown however that TPTB no longer find this friendship worthy of exploration and although I realise that RDA has a reduced time schedule, I find it hard to believe that the time he has onscreen is being used in the way it is. I understand that Scifi received a lot of letters asking that the Sam/Jack ship be explored and that seems to be working for those fans. I'm not sure however, that Scifi or Bridge understand just how many people are angry at the way the J/D friendship has been pushed aside.

Thanks to the worthy efforts of the SDJ campaign (Of which I was not involved ), and the efforts of many other people, Daniel came back to where he belongs. However, it just doesn't seem to be the same, without the deep friendship that he once shared with Jack. We are told to assume it's there and that they no longer have to speak, that they can understand each other without the need for words. Asking for the friendship to be recognised as important within the series does not have to be to the detriment of any other character interactions within the show. Season 8 starts filming in February and so time is of the essence, if we want these two characters to get back on track.

Being a fan of any other pairing doesn't mean that you can't also enjoy the some of the great moments these two guys produce on screen. If you want to let people know what you want you have to write and tell them. We know that Scifi in particular listens to the fans and have pushed for certain things that the fans have demanded, so if anyone's interested then send a letter with your thoughts to either (or both), Scifi and Bridge Studios.

Please feel free to forward this to any lists you think may be interested.

Suzanna

Well, you know, I thought you guys might be interested ;)

I don't know what's stupider: thinking that SciFi is running the show, that SDJ was in charge of getting Shanksicle back, the yearning of the great unwashed masses for more Jack/Daniel 'friendship', or the idea that, well golly gee, you can be a shipper and still want to have more lame episodes like One False Step, Red Sky and Scorched Earth to look foward to!

These people are such pinheads.

I just love how someone can assume that the way they or their friends think/feel about some aspect of the show constitutes as a 'lot of people in the fandom'. Do they have an exact number or is it just a "feeling"? Whatever. And that goes for anyone, not just this author.

Down, girl. Back to your corner. ;-)
Idiots! Idiots everywhere! Ahhahahahaa!!

Oooh, I liked Scorched Earth. Jack and Sam tried to kill Daniel. Hahahaa.
Yeah, it's bad, but they can be entertained by trying to kill him again, so that's good.

Actually what Suzanna said was "Thanks to the worthy efforts of the SDJ campaign and the efforts of many other people"; it doesn't sound at all like she was saying that the SDJ was in charge of getting Michael Shanks back all on their own, but that it appeared to be an effort given by many people.
Well, in this case, "in charge" was meant to infer that SDJ was leading the whole rabid pack. Which is pretty much what happened on the fandom side of things.

It implies, well at least from what I read into its context, that SDJ was the reason Daniel was brought back, which is untrue and a tad arrogant. The fans had nothing to do with it.

Also, I wouldn't really call the efforts of SDJ worthy, I found most of their motives and efforts rather cynical and bitter and rude.
Well I don't feel I comment on any of that since I don't know the SDJ people involved, or Michael Shanks' actual reason for returning (though i'm sure a lot of people like to speculate).
Many of us got to watch SDJ in action. Couldn't get away from it actually. It wasn't pretty.
just waiting for the organized name they will come up with (does that mean we have to come up with matching bodyparts again?)
Hehehe, there's my dose of humour for the day.

Here, here.
One False Step must have been a lame ep, because I can't even remember anything about it, and I'm sure I've seen every ep at least twice.
Ah, yes. You know an ep made an impact on me when I saw it *last week* and still didn't remember it. D'oh!
bully for them and all but...you know just because they want something, doesn't mean the whole world does.
