Here's the description:

"Tired of being dismissed as a 'vocal minority'? We're fans who signed on to watch "Stargate SG-1", not "Stargate: SamandJack". Fans who believe Stargate is a human drama in a scifi setting, not a soap opera. Fans who care about the team, about all four members of our SG-1 family. Whichever romantic pairing we may enjoy in fanfiction, onscreen we want the team together, we want their characters and integrity respected, not compromised for a grafted-on romance you can find on any soap and which excludes every fan who doesn't see it or want to watch it. We thought "Stargate: SamandJack" was behind us in Season 4, but now there's talk of a kiss coming up in Season 7. Have Sci Fi learned nothing from Showtime? We're not looking to flood your inbox with mail, in fact, there'll be no mail at all. Just join the group for a fuss-free, completely
private way to make your point. Stargate SG-1 onscreen = pro-friendship, pro-family, pro-TEAM. We're not a minority at all "

Now, here's the interesting part:

This group was only formed on May 24th...(that's, uh, three days
ago)...

Yet -- there are 523 members.

Unhuh. Can you say "sockpuppets"?

One thing is for sure... the phrase "our SG-1 family" smells just like the spoiled Denialite/OS brats, MS's footsoldiers. Shocking!

It would not do the fandom any good were it split because something happens that one half of the fandom absolutly loves and the other half absolutly hates.

And I don't want TPTB making decisions based on what the fans want. I think writing in is a good idea because I personally know the power of feedback ;) But the writers aren't going to go "Oh, we shouldn't do this because fandom - a teeny tiny minority of the overall viewing public - might go wacky over it". That's dumb.

I want this show to continue and not to be canceled because of hate mails or something like that.

That wouldn't happen. As far as companies like SciFi go, there's no such thing as bad attention. And if they got hate mail because of something shippy, I guess that only goes to show them how petty and immature the antishippers are.

No, respect means listening to other ideas and seeing what's best for the show in that context.

Yes, that is the job of the writers and producers and execs and I'm sure they will do that.

The problem for me is the overall tone of the comments made.

Tone doesn't mean that you don't have the right to say what you want. Which is a good thing, because I wouldn't want to have to worry about making my LJ 'politically correct' for everybody.

Well, they did bring MS back and I think fandom had quite a bit to do with that one...

AFAIK They also got hate-mails for writing MS out, so i wouldn't be surprised. And that also showed the immaturity of these people IMHO. No group is perfect, I guess.

I sure hope so, because I always enjoyed Stargate.

And you sure as hell don't have to, it just sort of scares me off sometimes. A very personal thing.

I don't.

The two groups overlap quite a bit.

And you sure as hell don't have to, it just sort of scares me off sometimes.

Maybe I should put up a disclaimer. Warning, may scare people off.
"I don't."

Didn't say that :)

"The two groups overlap quite a bit."

Something i can't really comment on.

"Maybe I should put up a disclaimer. Warning, may scare people off."

:) Not necessary.
