(no subject)

Watching Iron Man on FX.

I really do prefer Terrence Howard as Rhodey. I don't know why. I just do.

Phiiiiiiiiil.

I love how he gets all the reporters to sit down, and they don't stand when he does until he makes his announcement about shutting down the weapons division.

ETA: At some point in this movie, Obadiah needed to be all, "Gettin' real tired of your shit, Tony."

I saw Hustle & Flow in the theatres and have been a fan of Terrence Howard ever since so I was very sad about that...but then I was torn because I really liked Don Cheadle as an actor as well. I think Howard fit better but Cheadle has sort of won me over with this film.

There was definitely a lack of Phil in IM3 that I totally felt...I know he was part of the whole "New York" situation that Tony was going through but...was it so we wouldn't be so mad at Phil when it turns out he's not dead? But that last montage during the credits?

NEEDED COULSON!

I still like the second one best...it has Natasha and the SHIELD and Disney and "I'm going to taser you and watch Supernanny while you drool on the carpet".
I liked a lot about 2 but I thought the plot was more uneven. Plus I'm a sucker for a good origin story. :)

Going to see 3 tomorrow night!
I did like Howard too. It's too bad things didn't work out there.
I feel the same way. He was in the first one, so he gave life to the character, and then suddenly he's different.

I completely agree. Howard's Rhodey had an immediate, visceral chemistry with Stark that I don't think the recasting ever matched, even in IM3 (where it was closer).
Yup. Like, I believed that TH's Rhodey and Tony could be buds, whereas DC's never seemed to mesh as well with him, or bounce off him the same way, or something. Plus, while DC is a fine actor, TH is just adorable. So there's that.
Ditto. Although, most of the colonels I know are more like DC than TH. DC has a certain gravitas that works well when he's in uniform, in a room full of big wigs, looking serious.

But where it doesn't work so well is when he's called upon to pal around with Tony, or be a BAMF in that metal suit; for that you need more of the TH charisma/sparkle than real-life colonel-ness.
