Maybe I'm pathetic...

...but waking up this morning, seeing the footage of the Iraqis and GIs bringing down the statue of Saddam and the resultant party... the rally/impomptu parade led by the large Iraqi population in Michigan with the Iraq and US flags flying together... hell, even the looting of gov't buildings... it honestly did bring tears of joy to my eyes.

mhh...okey as far as a big stupid grin of happiness for those people is not pathetic because if it also applies to that, you are sooo not a pathetic ('cause it will make me one and I'm not).

now we will have to wait for the other two cities/areas.

Oh yes, the fighting isn't over yet... but it's so wonderful to see the looks of joy on these peoples' faces.

i watched it too. someone equated it to the berlin wall coming down, and i have to agree. it was a large symbolic victory. coulda slapped the marine that whipped out the flag, but at least he didn't leave it up.

The sooner they can restore order, the sooner the troops can go home

Yup, I've been hearing that mentioned a lot. A kind of 'in ten years, people will be asking 'where were you when...?' moment.

LOL. I told Jenny -- it's kind of metaphorical in a way, bringing out the US flag, taking it down and then replacing it with a pre-Saddam Iraqi flag. It said: "We came in and kicked his ass, now we leave him to your 'tender mercies' ;)"

The sooner they can restore order, the sooner the troops can go home

Amen to that.

And Denise... why don't you have an icon? *g
