Watching Star Trek (2009). Because I realized after watching STID that I didn't remember much about the first movie aside from the Spock stuff.

I had totally forgotten - or just didn't realize at the time - that James Kirk's parents were Thor and Emma Swan.

ETA: Have I mentioned that as reboots go, the idea behind this one was freaking brilliant?

Also, having a lot of Kirk and Spock (but not Kirk/Spock) feels.

Heee there was a thing going around tumblr re Kirk's parents - something like "If your parents are Thor and Emma Swan, you just have to be awesome". Something like that.

Rewatched the first movie myself few days ago. It's aaaawesome. I liked STID too, but I think I like this one better.

Hard for me to decide. There were things I liked about both, and also nitpicks I have about both.

Speaking of comparisons, did The Internet get as Outraged over Uhura's underwear scene in this one as they did about Carol's in STID?
I honestly have no idea about Underwear Outrage. Wait, carol was in underwear in STID? I suppose she was (I saw it only once).

I think I could nitpick if I wanted, but I probably won't. I tend to forgive a lot when it comes to Star trek, and avoid nitpicking. (All my freinds criticized ST:ENT and I adored it. *shrug*)
Yes Carol stripped down before she went to open up the photon torpedo (I think... I've also only seen it once) and Kirk ogled her for 2 seconds and apparently this was Wrong and Bad and Gratuitous and Sexist and Objectifying on JJ's part.

Generally speaking, ST is too fun to nitpick :)
Yep, you're right. I remember now. I guess it didn't bother me too much, but yeah, I wonder if she *had* to strip to her underwear.
